This fountain with a column, designed
by V. Bracci in 1776 and built utilizing marbles and travertine,
is Genzano's symbol.
At its base there are two papal coat of arms: on the rear side
that of Clement XIII (1758-1769 Rezzonico) and on the frontal
side that of Clement XIV (1769-1774 Ganganelli). From the base
a vine shoot climbs up the column winding itself round it till
reaching its top. The 'colonna coronata' is the
symbol of the Colonna's Family, owner of the town for
very long time; of the goddess Diana, whose symbol was the moon,
thus the moon decorating the fountain's column; and of
the wine's production, that made the town very famous.
