Within the structure of the Trappisti,
at the crossroads of Frattocchie. This villa has its entrance
on via Cavona, where this road once met with via d‘Albano.
This building was designed by Antonio del Grande for Girolamo
Colonna in the 17th century. It was built to host the important
guests of the pope during their stay in Castel Gandolfo. Among
the villas of the Colonna Family, this is very well preserved.
Its name is due to the statue representing a mermaid, Colonna's
heraldic symbol, near the fountain which is shaped like a grotto,
on the southern wing, at the end of the path beginning from
the gate on Via Appia.
